Problem

Programming education can be detached from visible results and teamwork. Young participants rarely combine code, image, music, presentation and fair credits in one task. They need a short format that ends with a working creative artefact.

Goal

Teach programming, graphics, music and collaboration by creating a short realtime effect.

Solution

Across two sessions, a team chooses a simple 2D effect or shader, adds original or openly licensed sound, and prepares a loop for projection. A mentor divides the work into roles, checks accessibility and leads a short review.

The lab combines programming, image, sound and teamwork. Across two 90-minute sessions, participants make an audiovisual loop, divide roles and present the result on a projector.

Materials must be original or openly licensed. A mentor checks credits, limits flashing and sound levels, and closes the screening with a short feedback session.

The programme can run in a school, library or cultural centre. It connects with electronics reuse and the General Probe archive, while participants create original work instead of copying productions from the 1990s.

Foundation model

Partnership

The venue provides a room, projector and group host. The foundation provides a workshop script, starter repository without protected material, and mentor coordination.
