Hitch cabin - a rigid shelter on the road

A rigid cabin carried in a hitch box and unfolded when a quick roof is needed.

Pilot · partners wanted

Problem

On aid trips or at field sites there is often no fast portable shelter that leaves the vehicle roof free. Fabric is not enough when it is windy or wet, or when the inside has to be closed for the night.

Solution

We are preparing a pilot of a rigid cabin carried in a compact tow-hitch box and unfolded on site. Closed, hard walls give a warmer and safer inside than fabric, and the folded box takes little room in transport. With partners we set safe-use rules and care. Structural details are discussed away from the public site.

Your role

  • Aid organisation / fire brigade / municipality partner
  • Field-logistics volunteer
  • On-site safety coordinator

Foundation licence - variable-shape volumes

The LEGACY AND INNOVATION foundation declares a licence from the inventor for the family of solutions known as variable-shape volumes (including MFE - Mobile Frame Extension), for statutory pilots.

We describe the family and social uses - not a product catalogue and without disclosing protected design details. Licence contracts and UPRP documentation are discussed individually with partners.
