Cooling for work and effort in heat

Support for safe work and effort in extreme heat, including off-grid settings.

The thermal-comfort-climate project addresses growing health risks from extreme temperatures. The solution is designed with an off-grid variant - for regions without stable power and disadvantaged communities.

Who it is for

  • Field work, construction, hot and cold industrial halls

MVP1 Field

  • 10–20 pilot devices
  • Two parallel groups: run/dance and field work/hall work
  • Measurements during heat waves: thermal comfort and heart rate
  • Research protocol with university (AWF / Wrocław University of Science and Technology)
  • Pilot scenario with one sports club during a heat wave

Budget: PLN 120–300k · 12 months · TRL 2–3

Funding: Local government grant / EU social innovation / sponsor; commercialisation outside the grant region

Foundation model

Social licence from authors → validation in the grant region → commercialisation outside the funded region → return to the foundation’s statutory goals. Preferential humanitarian licence for Africa (affordable, replaceable cartridges). We consider royalty-share / social-licence within the foundation budget. A sports club can host a heat-comfort pilot as a separate partner scenario.

We are looking for volunteers. Support the pilot, logistics, communication with local partners (2–5 people).

For outstanding candidates: placements in every format (on-site, remote, hybrid), research commissions, sponsorship of engineering, master's and doctoral theses, and joint research with a university.
